Being active in and
promoting various horse
clubs and organizations
is part of the additional activities at Hill Crest Farm. We
believe
that promoting horse clubs and organizations through membership,
education, and support is a key component in advancing the equine
industry in our region. Some of the horse organizations that we
have
been involved with are the West Virginia Appaloosa Horse Club,
Southwest Virginia Dressage Association, Blue Ridge Horse Force, United
States Dressage Association, and the American Quarter Horse
Association,
as well as others. We were introduced to the West Virginia
Appaloosa
Horse Club through friends that are avid Appaloosa enthusiasts.
Jeff
joined the club in 2003 and Anita also joined shortly after.
Adrianne
has recently also became a member. WVApHC believes in promoting
as well
as preserving the Appaloosa breed. The club meets on the second
Tuesday
evening of each month at Shoney’s restaurant just outside of
Charleston, WV. Most of the club members own Appaloosa horses, but this
is not a requirement to join. Several members show their horses
at both
open shows as well as ApHC sanctioned shows and many enjoy trail
riding. We are grateful for the friendships that we have
made through
these organizations and look forward to making many more friends that
share our love for horses through horse related organizations.
