Although Jeff
and Anita enjoy
showing at HCF, they also
enjoy spending quality
time with their horses on
nice relaxing trail rides in the beautiful Blue
Ridge Mountains of
Southwestern Virginia.
They believe that
spending time on the
trails is an essential
element in the training of
the all around, well
balanced equine.
Favorite locations
for trail riding include
the New River Trail and
Collins Cove horse camp in
Wythe County as well as
several different
locations in neighboring
Bland County.
They feel that
the trail environment not
only provides a learning
experience that cannot be
replicated in an arena,
but it also keeps horses
mentally fresh and less likely to fall
into the “daily grind” of
constant arena work.

Jeff and Anita are
active members of the
Virginia State Appaloosa
Horse Club. In
2007, Jeff coordinated
the re-chartering of
the club with the parent
national organization,
The Appaloosa Horse
Club. Jeff served
as President of the club
for the first three
years after the
re-chartering,
and Anita later
served as Vice-President
of the club. They
have also been members
of several other equine
related clubs in the
area but due to time
constraints and family
obligations they now
focus on their VSApHC
memberships. A link to the
VSApHC website can be
found on the HCF Links
page.
